Description
Young intellectual Martin Klučka hails from Hlučínsko but lives in Prague, where he studied art history and continues his doctoral studies. His life lacks clear contours. Although he feels lonely and uprooted in Prague, returning to his homeland is unimaginable for him. To some extent, he is even ashamed of his Silesian origins. However, he is subconsciously drawn to the contradictory German-Czech nationality and the troubled wartime history of this part of Silesia. In his dissertation, he explores the architecture of Nazi Germany, and his interest leads him to a mysterious girl named Martina Lípová. She ultimately convinces him to focus on the figure of Hans Kammler, the chief architect of Heinrich Himmler. It is known that he was in Prague at the end of the war, after which his trail disappears. The search for his further fate subsequently brings the young couple into many adventurous situations. Alongside this storyline, a monologue by Kammler himself unfolds, in which he reconstructs his life and delves into reflections on his work, violence, and death. These two layers are framed by the story of Martin's father, Walter Klučka, who travels to Germany for work in the early 1990s.
