Description
Literary biographies and autobiographies are genres that have undergone a long evolution and have found their firm place in literary criticism. This anthology presents a selection of texts that fall within the realm of alternative (auto)biography in English-language literatures. They cover the period from the eighteenth century to the present and various geographical areas (the USA, Canada, Britain, Australia). They indicate the formal and thematic diversity of works that consciously and self-reflectively transcend the boundaries between fiction and non-fiction. The individual texts were translated by students of the translation seminar at the Department of English and American Studies at Masaryk University.
