Description
A chronologically conceived biography of one of the most significant filmmakers of Czech interwar cinema (Erotikon, From Saturday to Sunday, Extase), who also made a name for himself as a film creator in Austria, Italy, the USA, and Germany, is factually based on extensive research of primary archival sources. The recapitulation of the artist's individual fate has become an impetus for the presentation of selected general phenomena related to the situation of cinema in the given period and territory of Machatý's professional activity. The layout of the book into chapters respects the creation of individual titles in the director's filmography.
