This richly illustrated and modernly conceived guide focuses on identifying European songbirds, climbers, and other similar birds in flight – in terms of content and processing, it is the first of its kind in its field. The book features 850 highly realistic illustrations by renowned bird illustrator Tomasz Cofta; and additionally 2,400 carefully selected photographs that characterize each listed species as accurately as possible. Brief and concise descriptions of individual species provide key information about the appearance of the flying bird and its flight style; at the same time, each species includes information about the structure and behavior of the entire flock and the vocalizations of the birds during flight. The book also includes a reference to a collection of audio recordings of flying birds. Tomasz Cofta is one of the most experienced field ornithologists in Europe, having had the opportunity to study hundreds of thousands of bird individuals (mostly songbirds) in detail as part of scientific research and banding. He lives in Gdańsk, is a member of the Polish Avifaunistic Commission, and is known as an illustrator and author of several scientific publications.
