For each species, a large photograph highlights its typical features, a smaller photo in a cutout shows the bird in flight, and an accompanying illustration depicts the female or a young individual. All of this, along with a clear description, allows for easy and reliable identification. Additionally, each species is accompanied by a map of its summer and winter distribution. Searching in the book is very convenient and quick thanks to the color-coded system. Finally, the book includes several plates depicting the eggs of the most well-known bird species. Detlef Singer is the author and translator of professional books on nature and ornithology. In addition to his publishing activities, he undertakes study trips across Europe and is involved in photographing and filming nature. He has collaborated on a series of documentaries with the ZDF station, for example. He now lives with his family in Sweden.
