The households of our grandmothers are a modest guide to a healthy independent life, tested by the daily efforts of generations of women to lead a dignified and natural life in harmony with nature and their own nature. The book presents a comprehensive collection of unique information from the practical lives of our ancestors, dating back at least a hundred years, often even further. In compiling the Households of Our Grandmothers, historical cookbooks, period trade recipe books, professional publications, and archives of family handwritten recipes from the late 19th and the first half of the 20th century were used. In the book, we can take a look into ancient kitchens, baskets, or pantries, revive traditional methods of processing and preserving grains, potatoes, legumes, and oilseeds, home processing of milk, preserving eggs, or preparing vegetables and mushrooms, all without artificial preservatives, refrigerators, freezers, or vacuum sealers. Each chapter is supplemented with tried-and-true recipes from the author.
