Description
The stories from the vicinity of Žďár nad Sázavou, where the author experienced a number of difficult years in the second half of the 19th century, are based on her personal experiences and insights. She narrates the miserable life of the poorest in the countryside; the sad fate of an aging mother to whom her daughter returns with a child, a single mother whose little daughter brings a happier life to both, and a blind harpist accompanied by a sister longing to escape from poverty and suffering.
