Description

Three saints and one robber, two Přemyslid princes and two Czech poets, a total of sixteen well-known and lesser-known personalities presented in this book by the experienced author of factual literature Jan Bauer, have one thing in common – a strange end. Some were murdered, others beheaded or hanged, while another faced an early and somewhat mysterious death. After four volumes of 'strange ends', the fifth arrives, which is just as interesting, tense, and novel in its historical perspective as the previous ones. The author himself admits in the introduction that the sixteen personalities presented here somehow slipped from his previous books on 'strange ends'. However, this colorful and somewhat heterogeneous mixture is not a drawback in this case. On the contrary, it offers a vivid and impressive insight into the distant and closer past of Czech and Moravian history.
