Description

In the near future, a nuclear explosion will turn Prague into a pile of rubble. The last survivors are a young woman and her stepfather. The woman suffers from claustrophobia accompanied by hallucinations, while the father is an egoist incapable of normal human contact. During their time together in a space of 80 m2, their past surfaces, including the woman's childhood abuse by her father. By unfortunate accident, the door controls are damaged. They have only as much time as it takes for the generator to run out; then they face death by suffocation. The woman increasingly experiences seizures. After they subside, she is unable to distinguish reality from the phantoms her imagination conjures at the slightest movement behind the shelter's door. The father retreats into his own world, as if their hopeless situation did not concern him. The woman feels growing resentment towards him. The story is complemented by retrospective passages in which both protagonists reflect on the events that inevitably led them to their shared burial alive.
