Description
Although K. Borský's book "Awakening into Darkness" appears to be a novel, nothing in it is fictional. The author incorporates his own experiences and life lessons into the fates of Antonín Bárka and his wife Kristina. The third-person narrative, however, offers the opportunity to assess oneself with the necessary distance, making it easier to express both condemnation and praise. A. Bárka's personal story resembles those of his fellow fighters who suffered undeserved injustices and grievances at the hands of totalitarian power. In this sense, the hero's fate in the book is a generalized image of hundreds of frontline fighters for freedom.
