Description
The year 2000 witnessed a remarkable fact. For the first time in human history, a person entered a new century knowing their own genome, with all the implications of this revolutionary achievement. This was probably the most ambitious scientific task that humans have undertaken throughout their existence. However, this enormous historical success in itself did not bring us closer to clarifying the origin of life, the origin of species, and the origin of man. Our current approach to these three general problems must be based on discoveries made in molecular biology and genetics in the second half of the twentieth century, which ultimately enabled the successful reading of the genome. It is at least striking how many people, including biologists, still believe in the mechanism of 'natural selection' at the beginning of the third millennium. In addition to methods for deciphering the human genome, molecular biology has gathered experimental results over the last sixty years demonstrating surprisingly great stability in such a complex structure as a single gene. This stability, by its nature, certainly does not favor random changes in the gene. Intensive research in this field has provided a number of today’s laboratory-used, yet very complicated techniques that allow for molecular manipulation of DNA,…
