Korespondence Karla Hvížďaly s Václavem Havlem Ke knihám Dálkový výslech a Prosím stručně – Havel Václav (2013)

The anthology contains the complete correspondence between Karel Hvížďala and Václav Havel, which they exchanged from 1984 to 2006 regarding the books Dálkový výslech and Prosím stručně. It also includes facsimiles of the original letters from Havel and period photographs. In retrospect, it can be said that these two books were much more significant for both authors than they initially thought: Václav Havel believed at the beginning of the collaboration on Dálkový výslech that he would someday write his memoirs, and of course, he had no idea that in December 1989, he would play a key role in front of the public before being elected to the presidential office. Dálkový výslech remains his most cited and translated book to this day. Similarly, Dálkový výslech was important for Karel Hvížďala after his return from German exile: it helped him reintegrate into Czech society more easily. Prosím stručně is a book that was created under entirely different conditions, at a time when Václav Havel was no longer president.
