Description
The dominant method of contemporary oncological surgery in the field of solid tumors is their complete surgical removal. The surgical methods are detailed and standardized. At the same time, surgery is constantly evolving, improving, and utilizing all possibilities that lead to minimal patient damage. One of the significantly developing areas is the investigation of the so-called sentinel lymph node. Its detection, subsequent sampling, and examination alone cannot contribute to the final effect of the operation, but they can at least refine the stage of the disease, thereby aiding in the decision-making about meaningful comprehensive oncological therapy. It is important for both the surgeon and the patient that the method contributes to the selection of the optimal approach and the necessary extent of the operation, from which the patient will benefit. The authors of this monograph aim to provide readers with a clearly processed collection of current knowledge and experiences for easier orientation in the described issues.
