The publication presents the concept of postural motor programming, building on Vojta's method and the principles of developmental kinesiology. This model was first developed in Sweden and later in the Czech Republic as an independent physiotherapeutic concept. During exercises in a suspension device, emphasis is placed on achieving and maintaining body position as a subsequent starting point for further movement in a vertical position. Unlike the reflex method, the exercises incorporate elements of conscious learning, with patient motivation at the forefront of the entire exercise process. As a result, exercising becomes more enjoyable for the patient and is better tolerated. The monograph includes a medical diagnostic section with a unique perspective on this issue and a practical physiotherapeutic section focused primarily on chronic patients treated with the Vojta technique, in whom the improvement of motor functions has stagnated. The authors employed suspension techniques where gravity made intended voluntary movement against it impossible or difficult. As demonstrated by the case studies presented in the book, suspension has improved the conditions for facilitating this function.
