Old love never rusts. And Nerez? NO, NEREZ DOES NOT RUST, as music critic Jan Rejžek prophesied twenty years ago. Anyone who might doubt that Nerez is no longer Nerez will be convinced by this book about the music group Nerez, written by its founding member Zdeněk Vřešťál. It extensively, thoroughly, and clearly maps the musical history of Nerez from 1980 to 1994 (including the 'prehistory' of 1979 – the duo Vřešťál & Sázavský) and subsequently also the individual paths of the band members after its breakup (1995–2008). It provides insight not only into the backstage of the band, concerts, tours both domestic and foreign, as is common in this literary genre, but also allows readers to step behind the threshold of the musical kitchen – where ideas are conceived, composed, written, combined, edited, arranged, recorded, and everything is reshuffled again. Although the author writes in the introduction that in that kitchen 'all the sauces have cooled and the dumplings have gone stale' – it is merely an exaggeration; everything is tasty, fresh, as it should be.
