Diabetic foot syndrome is an issue that general practitioners, internists, diabetologists, surgeons, and orthopedists often encounter in their practices. It is a condition that, due to its nature, requires multidisciplinary care, with a particular emphasis on prevention. Diligently applied preventive measures and timely adequate treatment can significantly reduce the percentage of complications associated with this syndrome. One of the most feared complications is mutilating high amputations of the lower limb; according to well-documented reports, quality care can reduce their number by as much as fifty percent. This book has therefore been conceived to provide the most important information about modern diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diabetic foot syndrome in the clearest, most concise, yet precise form.
