Recently, there has been an increasing interest in the issue of social security, not only from social care workers but also from healthcare professionals and the general public. The presented practical dictionary provides a comprehensive current overview of the main social security systems, such as pension insurance, sickness insurance, health insurance, state social support, social need, employment, and social care. It explains the basic concepts and contexts related to the issue as thoroughly as possible and provides references to applicable legislation for each entry. Citations of legal regulations are very important for finding further information. However, at the time of publication, they may have already been amended, and therefore the significance of references to legal regulations is intended more in the sense of which legal regulation to look for. The dictionary will serve well not only for doctors in clinical fields of medicine and all assessing physicians but also for citizens with disabilities and all institutions dealing with this issue. The book received the 2nd prize from the Institute of Postgraduate Education in Healthcare in the competition for the best scientific publication of 2003 (book publication category).
