Description
The book Eight Last Ones presents a collection of the eight most recent works by poet, essayist, and translator Zdeněk Hron. It includes the poetry books Shards of the Mirror (2013–2014), In the Mirror of Stone (2015), In the Whirl of Swifts (2016), The Arrow Stopped in Flight (2017), Turquoise Letter: Prose Poems (1978–2017), Back to the Wall (2018–2020), In the Time When Voice and Blood Are Lost (2020–2021), and Even Though Night Is in the Eyes (2022–2024). The volume is complemented by the previously unpublished autobiographical text Secret Biography of a Not Quite Grown-Up Boy, which brings valuable personal snippets from the author's life for the first time. The book was organized and has an afterword written by Jan Šulc. Included in the book is a list of Hron's extensive poetic work, encompassing both poetry books and translations of poetry, editions, and afterwords that the author accompanied his poetic translations with. Eight Last Ones is published to celebrate the author's eightieth birthday.
