Mami, miluju - Rozhovory o lásce navzdory – Palán Aleš (2023)

The relationship between a mother and daughter is one of the most important yet also one of the most complicated. What to do if maternal love doesn't ignite at all and instead of warmth, there is rejection? How does external aggression manifest in the mother-daughter relationship? And conversely, what is it like to fear for your daughter in a devastating way? Not understanding her, losing her. Is it a battle in which anything goes? The wounds from such a clash cannot be easily healed. A group of five girls and women, interviewed by Aleš Palán and his daughter Anna, seeks their way to cope with the burden of difficulties. They are young, but what they have been through could fill nine lives. Something has impacted them. Perhaps it was fate, predisposition, one wrong decision, or a foolish twist of circumstances. It has marked the women themselves and the relationships they form. Yet they are still daughters, and some of them are already mothers. Despite everything, they try to express: 'Mom, I love you.' Despite everything, they need to hear it themselves. The photographs in the book are by the renowned photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková.
