For the sixth time, the lavish book Stories of the Old Lady is being published, in which sports journalist and publicist Tomáš Macek presents 100 editions of the Tour de France. As the very first Czech publication, it maps the history and present of this most famous cycling race. Based on period press and literature, as well as personal testimonies from witnesses, it brings closer the most interesting stories from the Tour, its heroes, mysteries, tragic events, and amusing anecdotes. The core of the book consists of 46 chapters from the history of the Tour, accompanied by a wealth of unique period photographs. The next part captures the Czechoslovak and Czech footprint in the most renowned race through personal memories of seven cyclists who participated in it in the past. The revised edition concludes with a rich statistical overview.
