Selma has dreamed of the African antelope three times, and each time someone from the village has died, which puts its residents on high alert. Some feel that now is the time to reveal the hidden truth. And when death finally comes, its circumstances are beyond everyone's expectations. Through Luisa, we uncover the life of a small, peaceful village with a magical atmosphere. In Selma's house, where the girl is growing up, often peculiar neighbors find refuge, united by friendship, tolerance of differences, and a desire to help each other, despite their neuroses, whims, and differing personalities. Luisa's parents also live here, caught up in a midlife crisis to the extent that they barely have time for their daughter, willingly leaving her upbringing to others. And an important place is held by the enormous dog Aljaška, with an aura of immortality. The novel consists of three parts set in the 1980s and 1990s and then at the beginning of the new millennium.
