In her new book, which Martina Formanová follows up with her previous autobiographical prose works, Skladatelka voňavého prádla and Snědla dětem sladkosti, we meet a mature woman reflecting on her life after the death of her husband, Miloš Forman. With the help of her diary, she processes her grief and emptiness from the loss of the person with whom she spent twenty-three years and raised two sons. The first entry is from August 2018, and the last from the pandemic February of 2021. With exaggeration, self-irony, and honesty, the author describes her journey to recovery. An unexpected part of her mental therapy becomes stand-up lessons, which combine her desire for communication, sense of humor, and long-ago experiences from attending a children's recitation group in her hometown of Brno.
