Description
The story of the love between two people whose relationship has turned into a romantic struggle. Tomáš, a charming and respected intellectual from Prague, meets director Martina, who lives and works in both Paris and Prague and is writing a screenplay for a documentary film about Milan Kundera. Their passionate love does not last long, as Martina gradually discovers that she is not the only one in the relationship, becoming an unrelenting uncoverer of Tomáš's numerous infidelities, with Tomáš's mistresses gradually becoming her accomplices. Working on the film about Milan Kundera takes Martina to places connected with the writer's life and his novels, in Prague, Vienna, and Paris. In Martina's preparations and the fictional scenes from the upcoming film, the fundamental themes of Kundera's novels emerge: love, sex, infidelity, cruel jokes of fate, and the life of an intellectual caught in the traps of great history. All of this contrasts with the misery of police spying and interference in the lives of others. The frantic and sophisticated snooping of the StB agents into Kundera's private life unexpectedly intersects with her own fate. However, she can employ more modern methods than the former secret police – the internet, Facebook, and mobile phones. Martina's masochistic search for the truth...
