Za oknem - 19 spisovatelů proti covid-19 – group of authors (2020)

Look for the number 19 behind everything. The disease that infected millions of people within a few months and paralyzed the world's economy is called Covid-19. In response, 19 writers decided to help in the fight against its effects. Each of them wrote a short story or essay for this book about living with the epidemic looming behind. The collection is exceptional not only for the prominent names of the authors but also because 19% of the proceeds from sales will be donated to charity. The title of the book is symbolically borrowed from Lidmila Kábrtová's story 'Behind the Window,' in which an elderly woman paralyzed by the fear of infection retreats into absolute isolation. The authors depict the world during the pandemic from various angles, with some returning to history. The genre diversity is also interesting – a realistic portrayal intertwines with horror, crime stories, and poetic fantasy. Contributing to the book without any claim to royalties are Paul Auster, Bianca Bellová, Zuzana Dostálová, Pavla Horáková, Lidmila Kábrtová, Pavel Kosatík, Antonín Kratochvil, Alena Mornštajnová, Jan Němec, Jiří Padevět, Iva Pekárková, Markéta Pilátová, Martin Sichinger, Mark Slouka, Petr Stančík, Olga Stehlíková, Jan Štifter, Miloš Urban, and Michal Vrba.
