Hledání Boha – Veverka Miroslav (2019)

The essays build on the author's successful, critically acclaimed book Evolution by its own creator. From the Big Bang to Global Civilization (2013). Veverka clearly and engagingly maps the history of theological thought and illuminates basic concepts such as pantheism, deism, or theism, and thoroughly analyzes various proofs of God's existence as developed in different periods of European theology and philosophy. Special attention is given to 20th-century theological thought, which responded to the development of scientific knowledge. Modern creation theories are presented here, particularly the so-called anthropic principle, or God of the Big Bang. However, the author does not limit himself to thoughts and theoretical concepts. In several chapters, he addresses real religions from animism and polytheism through the three major monotheistic religions – Judaism, Christianity, Islam – to individual beliefs and mythologies of the East. Veverka does not hide his critical stance, especially towards the main monotheistic religions, but at the same time has a deep understanding of the human search for God and something that transcends us.
