Description
The bibliographic database Medline is one of the fundamental sources of information about published scientific literature in medicine. It contains data from approximately 4,500 journals across all fields. The database was created by the National Library of Medicine, Bethesda, USA (NLM). NLM has developed a special environment for searching the database – PubMed, which provides free access to Medline. PubMed allows searching using the MeSH vocabulary (MeSH is the international standard for indexing terms in the field of medicine) and includes a variety of tools for refining queries and working with retrieved citations. The content of the book describes this search environment and provides examples of searching for specific queries.
