Description
A book of poems by Jiří Žáček accompanied by the paintings of Josef Lada, which he has given a voice to in his verses. Just as the famous illustrators of Jiří Žáček's books have tried to capture the magic of his fairy tales, the humor of his verses, the poetry of his children's books, and add something that belongs to the text, Jiří Žáček tries to capture in his poems the Lada paintings that have spoken to him, to decipher what they express, and to add something more. About the paintings of Josef Lada that he selected for this book and accompanied with his poems, Jiří Žáček wrote: "Somehow, through a miraculous spell, Josef Lada enchanted his paintings and drawings, which is why I feel at home in them. As if it were the world of my childhood. As if I were the boy who in spring blows a whistle, in summer builds a dam on the stream, in autumn roasts potatoes in the fire, and in winter builds a snowman in the village square and sleds down the steepest slopes."
