Description
The new poetry book of the best of Žáček's sonnets is accompanied by artistic artifacts from world painting galleries. I must confess that for a long time, I found sonnets too old-fashioned, artistic. Especially the Renaissance giants Dante and Petrarch sincerely bored me with their praises of fatal women — however, their contemporary, the ironist and rebel Cecco Angiolieri, who wrote If I Were Fire, I Would Set the World Ablaze, captivated me with his sense of life. His and Shakespeare's sonnets convinced me that form cannot be boring or old-fashioned; it only depends on the content whether a poem will be truly captivating and exciting. The book of Sonnets is as variable as life, serious yet whimsical, loving, melancholic, and ironic.
