Description
The Basic Guide to Literary Theory is suitable throughout the entire study of literature in high school and for preparation for the final exam. The student (reader) will gain basic theoretical knowledge, making it easier to penetrate the meanings of literary works. The exposition is interspersed with excerpts from literary works, examples of text interpretation, and explanatory comments. Main thematic units: •Structure of literature (literary genres and types) •Structure of a literary work (theme and motif, plot, time, space, character, narrator, composition, language) •Structure of verse (poetry and prose, verse and line, versification systems, types of verse, rhyme, stanza) The author of the textbook taught Czech language and literature at the Eight-Year Gymnasium in Buďánka and the English Gymnasium in Prague, and is currently working as a research worker at the Institute of Czech Literature of the Czech Academy of Sciences and collaborates externally with CERMAT.
