Description
This Czech-language German textbook is the first volume in a three-part course designed for students at language and secondary schools, as well as other learners. It contains 16 lessons with a traditional structure, each beginning with a monologue or dialogue that introduces new grammar and topic-related vocabulary. The topics focus on practical use in everyday life. The texts are followed by reading-comprehension exercises, grammar explanations and related practice. The grammar sections cover three to five points at a time, including subordinate clauses and the past tenses of weak and selected strong verbs, followed by two or three substantial exercises. Vocabulary is presented chronologically with Czech equivalents. A self-assessment test appears after every fourth lesson. The textbook requires no previous knowledge of German, while its brisk progression also suits so-called false beginners. After completing the first volume, students can communicate in simple situations and have a solid grammatical foundation for further development of their communication skills.
