Description
This Czech-language geography textbook for the sixth grade is the second part of a modern series for pupils in grades six to nine. Its content is arranged in an unconventional way: instead of dividing the material according to individual branches of geography, it consistently uses a regional approach. Pupils learn about the remaining European states, including Western, Southern, Southeastern and Eastern Europe, as well as the northern part of Eurasia, including Russia and the countries of Central Asia. They also learn geographical terms and phenomena such as earthquakes, volcanoes and volcanic activity, glaciers and their modelling effects. The knowledge they acquire is further developed through investigative activities. Rich graphic material supports understanding of the subject matter. Statistical data and graphs are not included merely for their own sake, but guide pupils in analysing and evaluating them. Subsequent discussions help them think in context and develop their ability to argue.
