This Czech-language history textbook is the third volume in a new series for lower-secondary schools and the lower grades of multi-year grammar schools. It covers the modern era and follows earlier volumes on prehistory and antiquity, and the Middle Ages and early modern period. The series follows the requirements and aims of the Czech Framework Educational Programme for Basic Education and is issued with approval from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. The material is clearly divided graphically into core and supplementary content, supports links between subjects and highlights cross-curricular themes. The textbook is richly illustrated, with particular attention to maps and period illustrations, and the explanations are accompanied by a detailed timeline. It also includes summaries, exercises, glossaries of terms, key competencies and expected outcomes relating to the student’s personal development.
