Description

The book is intended for those interested in current technical and methodological knowledge in the field of classical and modern skiing techniques for descending and turning. It describes skiing on both groomed and poorly or completely ungroomed slopes of various inclines. The text includes a brief overview of the historical development and an outline of the biomechanics of descending and turning. A considerable amount of attention is then devoted to the material equipment for contemporary alpine skiing. The focus of the book is the description of two basic turning methods - the technique of parallel turns (plow turns, turns from the plow, from the edge of the higher ski, basic, dynamic, and short parallel turns, turns from the edge of the lower ski, with braking, with jumping, in moguls, and deep snow) and the carving technique (basic, dynamic, race, and fun turns). At the end of the book, the rules for safe skiing on the slopes are presented.
