It sounds almost unbelievable – the vital, spirited, charming queen, who is very graceful for her age, has been with the British and all of us for ninety-six years, and she has also been the longest-serving monarch. Few of us can boast of such an impressive ninety-six years of life. Some have already passed away, others were only recently born, yet from the early 1950s to the modern 21st century, there has always been one remarkable queen in Britain, whom we all know as the elegant lady in colorful suits and a stylish hat. However, let us ask ourselves: Do we really know her (especially us Czechs, for whom British history is naturally only marginally relevant) so well? Do we know her traditional customs, personal hobbies, interests, or, for example, the various humorous stories, curiosities, and records of her life? The author aims to engagingly and effortlessly guide readers through the various events and customs of Elizabeth's court, which may rightly seem like a large, separate, and uncharted world in our country. The publication also includes occasional comparisons with Czech history, which intersected with British history at certain periods.
