Aphorisms represent a kind of abandoned house, a summer residence or a castle, where life once thrived. Society, including rare guests, gathered here to indulge in art, music, and literature. The reader can thus listen not only to poems but also to succinct expressions – aphorisms – through the windows that are opened. Aphorisms used to be the lions of salons. However, a salon is not a hidden chamber. The brass knobs on the windows work, please just turn them. Many windows are French, some are merely made of mica. Today we are accustomed to reproduced music, on CDs, vinyl records, and various media, but here in the salon, you will find musical instruments that are not untouchable, even though they are Baroque, and to be honest, they are just waiting for you, the player. Countess H. once visited Velíš Castle, where an elite society gathered at the court of Duke Albrecht of Waldstein when he was not fighting for European peace. In the book Castle Aphorisms and the Scribe's Boards (Balt East, 2011), I write about an older scribe who recorded these literary gems at Velíš in boards that were later discovered.
