Six Stories of My Soul is a chronicle of six lives of a wandering soul that roams the world in various places at different times. However, this is not about any literal reincarnation; it is more of a concept that allowed me to use a certain lens to delve beneath the surface of the life of an ordinary person, into their inner world, in times and countries that are more or less distant to us. It is primarily a reflection of the atmosphere of the era and the image of a person within it. But to avoid sounding too sophisticated, I should point out that it is entertaining, even humorous reading. The stories and their heroes are set in various areas of human activity: Jindřich, a Prague tram driver in the 1930s, Prokop the blacksmith fighting the Jesuits in medieval Prague, Marcus the scribe traveling through the Roman Empire, an American motivational speaker in the 1950s, or Tomáš, a descendant of a Czech polar scientist and a Greenlandic mother, discovering Czech tramping. The heroes of the stories – who are more like anti-heroes – share a certain human sensitivity and a specific perspective and attitude towards the world around them. They remember their past lives only in feelings or hints; the entire book is connected by certain common elements that appear in the stories like déjà vu, for example, the color green...
