Bohuslav Sobotka has long been one of the most popular politicians in the Czech Republic. Despite being a capable top politician, he became unpopular with some people towards the end of his career. While many found his career dull and uninteresting, the reality was quite the opposite – thrilling and dramatic, as the book describes. His journey to the head of the ČSSD and to the position of Prime Minister was far from easy. Although his beginnings and subsequent career advancements seemed fairy-tale-like from an observer's perspective, his end was more horror-like. Due to political pressure and a debacle in his personal life, everything Bohuslav Sobotka had painstakingly built during his political career nearly collapsed in a short period. He joined the ČSSD in 1989 and after seven years took a seat in the Chamber of Deputies. In 2002, he became the youngest Minister of Finance in Czech history, and three years later the First Deputy Prime Minister under Jiří Paroubek. Ultimately, he was elected party chairman in 2011 and after three years reached the highest peak, being appointed Prime Minister of the Czech Republic. This politician was difficult to read for many people, which is why the author aimed to present this personality from a different perspective.
