Ivan Fontana (*1946) presents readers with new aphorisms and verses. He is a master of literary brevity, and even if readers do not directly recognize themselves in the texts, they will surely appreciate their power. The author draws on many of our own and world-renowned writers. According to him, the aphorism has been cultivated in many literary salons, with the French and German spirit standing out above the rest in the European school. As he himself says, he knows almost every stone under Petřín – he attended elementary school here (now Kepler Gymnasium). He has published hundreds of aphoristic columns, poems, and essays in both Prague and national press. He has participated in many literary competitions, some of which merely nudged him forward, while others recognized his work. For his literary work, for example, he received a graphic print from Master Vladimír Komárek at Šrámkova Sobotka. His fresh verses are light and playful. They reflect numerous themes, but above all, life. His debut, Kostky v letu, was published by SNK before the Velvet Revolution. Our publishing house, Petrklíč, has published his titles Lidské stíny aneb Malé studie charakterů (1994), Klobouk myšlenek (1995), and Co řekly ženy (1996).
