If you cut an apple in half, you will either see a star or a cross. The little apple that the fairy cut above the cradle was special. One half had a star and the other a cross. This book has novelistic traits, but also the characteristics of a stylized chronicle or novella. However, none of these labels are entirely 'pure.' It is, in fact, a true story that the author experienced firsthand. Nevertheless, many may wonder why he is now bringing this skin to market. The answer is simple. Because such a story, though certainly not ordinary, can happen to any of us. Because the fairies assign fates that are unpredictable, cannot be planned, and therefore cannot be prepared for. The author is a screenwriter, director, and somewhat a producer of many television series, as well as documentary standalones. He has worked not only in Czech television but also abroad, and during that time, he encountered people of all kinds – from an Egyptian tomb raider to the man who deprived fascist Germany of the hope of making an atomic bomb – he filmed with a famous first-republic safecracker and became friends with the king of world thrillers and the best diamond cutter in the world. It seems he lives life in peace and relative abundance. However, then unexpectedly came into play…
