Description
In 1899, Bayer patented the brand Aspirin, and the first tablets were put on the market. A century later, aspirin is the most widely used medication in the world and is perhaps the closest to the myth known as the panacea, a healing remedy for all ailments. The writer Franz Kafka took aspirin for his disgust with life, and the Spanish philosopher Ortega y Gasset saw it as the universal medicine of the twentieth century.
