This workbook is part of a revised series of mathematics textbooks for eighth-grade primary school. The updated editions correspond even more closely to the Czech educational framework, contain more up-to-date information and are more appealing to pupils thanks to their new graphic design. They retain the original series’ concept while updating topics such as currency used when paying for purchases and price levels. The workbook also includes many new exercises showing the importance of mathematical knowledge in everyday life and encouraging pupils to complete various tasks and find information. Non-standard applied exercises and problems are given greater emphasis, including activities developing geometric imagination and combinatorial problems. Many exercises encourage pupils to reflect on environmental issues, such as energy-saving light bulbs and smoking. The greatest changes concern the graphic design: the textbooks are in colour and include photographs of real objects and situations, as well as humorous and motivating colour illustrations.
