Description
"I think God chose me to be the happiest of my generation..." Klára de Castelbajac (1953–1975) was a happy girl with a joyful and untamed nature, with musical and artistic talent. She sincerely sought God and the meaning of her life. At the age of twenty, she went to Rome to study painting restoration. The initial enthusiasm for her studies soon faded, and she began spending a lot of time with friends from the artistic environment. She was almost expelled from school, and her faith waned. Yet she still asked how her life should look. In the autumn of 1974, she embarked on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, which deepened her spiritual life: "I discovered God's love. Huge, wonderful, simple." When she subsequently restored frescoes in Assisi, she was overwhelmed with joy. However, she fell ill with meningoencephalitis during Christmas and died in January 1975. The story culminates in her encounter with Him – on the threshold of life and death – when Klára finally and forever becomes herself.
