Vergilio Gamboso, a Franciscan, is among the foremost experts in the field of early Franciscanism, particularly on the issue of Saint Anthony. He is the author of many popular books on history and art. However, he is primarily the publisher of the prestigious series 'Fonti agiofrafiche antiniane'. So far, six volumes have been published. This series features critical editions of historical documents about Saint Anthony from his death up to the mid-fifteenth century. Each edition is accompanied by very detailed introductory studies.
