Description
The pages of the Old Testament are literally teeming with cruelty. Perhaps it could be more palatable if it were only the actions of wicked people who rebel against God. However, in the Old Testament, it is God Himself who often acts harshly! It is therefore no wonder that the contrast is sometimes emphasized: the God of the Old Testament punishes, appearing cruel, while the God of the New Testament forgives, thus being merciful. But is this really the case? ... Wouldn't it be good to thoroughly verify how His mercy is actually portrayed in Scripture?
