In the second volume of the series Black Wings of Cthulhu, which today ranks among the most successful literary projects expanding the legacy of H. P. Lovecraft, we find eighteen stories by leading contemporary authors of dark fantasy. Under the guidance of the esteemed Lovecraft scholar S. T. Joshi, we once again encounter Caitlín R. Kiernan, who presents a poetic variation on Lovecraft's "The Hound," and Nicholas Roy, who fascinatingly explores the theme of existential horror from Lovecraft's "The Outsider," while the protagonists of Darrell Schweitzer's story descend into a bizarre fantasy reality. Just as various authors expressed themselves regarding "Pickman's Model" in the first volume, now three writers build upon elements from the famous "The Call of Cthulhu."
