The book presents an image of the vanished Nový Bydžov, including an introductory text dedicated to the history of this town. Prominent historian Jaroslav Prokop (November 16, 1939) studied history and Czech at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague and has been working at the City Museum in Nový Bydžov since 1975. In addition to local history, he focuses on the life and work of painter Petr Brandl and the history of the countryside. He is the author of the books Nový Bydžov in the Changes of Centuries (2005) and Petr Brandl.
