Description
The modern adaptation and rapid reconstruction of the old parts of Prague, initiated in the mid-19th century and motivated by economic and technical, but also artistic reasons, destroyed the largest part of the beautiful architectural heritage of the city from the 12th to the 18th century. Between 1916 and 1948, a collection of five books was published, which mapped the unfortunate intervention of the new era into old Prague through period photographs. This cycle is now complemented by two new volumes, which focus mainly on interventions after 1945. The first of these is dedicated to changes in the historical core of the city.
