Description

A collection of short stories written and translated from Swedish by Petrus Trottestam between 1999 and 2008, with the story 'Eva and the Flying Cobbler' written by Stefan L. Holm in 2004, edited together with the main author by Petr Homolák, Pavla Netušilová, Hana Švecová, Tomáš Eger, and Markéta Pěluchová, illustrated by Petr Kubes. My name is Petrus Trottestam, and my cradle made of juniper stood almost fifty years ago somewhere in the far north, in the land of the midnight sun. But this is just a biographical note. Biologically, I was born Denquinesh, the mother of us all, somewhere in the Ethiopian highlands; metaphysically, I come from the island of Itaka, and as an exile into reality, I am forever seeking my way back. I eternally flit between these poles, either on the back of the wooden horse of my childhood land or on my Pegasus of poetry or on Suviel, the horse of the Gondar emperor. Here are my stories in Czech - I wish you pleasant reading! I had the great favor that my stories were lovingly illustrated by Petr Kubes, the indomitable actor of the Moravian Theatre and my indispensable armorer on literary expeditions. Extraordinary thanks also go to my loyal 'editors' Petr Homolák, Pavla Netušilová, Hana Švecová, Tomáš Eger, and Markéta...
