Textile Printing: Clothing and Scarves 1920-1990

The theme of the book is textile printing, one of the oldest disciplines of textile production, viewed from many angles: as a carrier of artistic tendencies and as a material for the production of clothing and scarves, which can also become tools for various messages. Every fabric has its own story—production, aesthetic, and human—a story that is unique in a certain sense. The publication aims to document the complex relationships between printed textiles, fashion, history, and also human individuality. It traces the development of individual types of patterns, whether dots, stripes, or flowers, reflecting artistic, technical, and ideological influences. Great attention is paid to the scarf as an authentic historical document, which also serves for promotion and propaganda or as a reminder, while also documenting the development of visual art. The book was created as a companion publication to the exhibition of the same name held at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague.
