Description
Fifteen-year-old Kristýna dreams of becoming an actress and leaving Přerov. Surprisingly, it seems that this dream is within reach. However, all plans are thwarted by an unexpected epidemic. In the tense atmosphere of anti-epidemic measures, people change. When our loved ones become enemies, we have no choice but to accept a helping hand from strangers. Valuable advice can also come from Jan Amos Komenský. Writer Klára Smolíková (author of publications for children and youth, who published the successful book H.U.S.: Hus Completely Worldly at Kalich) met with readers during the COVID pandemic thanks to comics dedicated to Komenský, which she wrote and Lukáš Fibrich illustrated. Often, she compared the dramatic events of Komenský's life, such as the plague or fleeing and seeking asylum, with the current experiences of boys and girls from the last grades of elementary schools and high school students. In the background of the story COM.ensky, conversations about fear, loss of certainty, stepping into the unknown, illness, and humanity are woven.
